The subject of the invention is an all-terrain vehicle, characterised in that it includes, on either side, retractable caterpillar tracks, the said caterpillar tracks being controlled from thrust cylinders actuating gearing (ee') causing pivot bars (P), each connected at their ends to wheels (bb') and (cc'), to move from a horizontal position to an oblique position, these wheels will ensure the deployment of the caterpillar tracks into a first position, in order to support the vehicle whilst keeping the wheels in contact with the ground, and a second position for raising the vehicle, two tensioners (a) furthermore being intended to be compressed horizontally towards the centre of the vehicle when the caterpillar tracks are lowered.
