The invention relates to compositions for the parenteral administration of an essentially uniform and continuous amount of a peptide, which has a molecular weight of up to about 5,000, over an extended period of time. The peptide composition comprises a compacted and partially coated C.sub.10 -C.sub.20 fatty acid salt of the peptide. Examples of peptides useful in the invention includePPhis- D-trp-ala-trp-D-phe-lys-NH.sub.2,PPbradykinin, luteinizing hormone releasing hormone, growth releasing factor and poly-l- lysine. The invention also relates to the preparation and administration of said peptide compositions.
