PURPOSE: To enable the continuous production of amorphous Au alloy foil at a good yield by using a cooling roll coated with oily films at the time of producing a thin film foil strip by ejecting a molten metal consisting of an Au alloy on the surface of the single cooling roll rotating at a high speed and rapidly cooling and solidifying the molten metal. ;CONSTITUTION: Plural pieces of the wire-shaped oily films 2 are applied at suitable intervals transversely on the surface of the cooling roll 1 to form peeling spots. The molten metal housed into a container 3 is ejected from a nozzle 4 onto this cooling roll to form solidified foil 5. The solidified foil is continuously peeled from the oily film 2a as a start point by the gas jet injected from a nozzle 6 without generating winding and sticking. The oily films may be applied like spots. After the oily films are written in the proper positions on the surface of the cooling roll like in the case of the linear shape, the film is wiped away or spread to form the residual foil films.
