PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency of separating blood components and operability by providing a shielding means and sealing means for a connecting tube which connects a blood housing container and a blood component separating container. CONSTITUTION:The total blood in the blood housing container 20 is subjected to a centrifugal sepn. treatment and is separated to a blood plasma layer, boundary layer and red cell layer. The container 20 is then mounted on a sepn. stand of a blood component separator 11 and is pressured by a pressing plate 23 to transfer the blood plasma layer via the connecting tube 22 to the blood component separating container 21. A solenoid 3 is energized by a main control section 2 when a clamping switch 5 is pressed just before the boundary layer and the red cell layer arrive near the outlet O of the container 20. A pair of electrodes 4, 4 are then closed and the connecting tube 22 is instantaneously shut off. The connecting tube 22 is sealed when a sealing switch 7 is pressed as desired at this time. The blood plasma components and the components exclusive thereof are completely separated when the container 21 is subjected to the centrifugal sepn. treatment in the state of temporarily shutting off the connecting tube 22 by a plate clamp, etc. The high-purity blood plasma components are thus obtd.
