PRODUCTION OF VINBLASTINE USING CULTIVATED CELL OF VINCA ROSEA L. AND PRESERVATION OF ITS CELL

PURPOSE:To obtain vinplastine useful as a remedy for leukemia efficiently, by subjecting a cultivated cell of Vinca rosea L. to subculture in the presence of a plant hormone, selecting a strain capable of producing highly vinblastine, recovering vinblastine. CONSTITUTION:A cultivated cell capable of producing vinblastine derived from tissue of Vinca rosea L. of South Africa growth is subjected to subculture. A combination of one or more of siccanins (e.g., benzylaminopurine) and auxins (e.g.,indoleacetic acid) is preferably used as the plant hormone. The prepared strain capable of producing highly vinblastine is selected, produced vinblastine is extracted with methanol, and recovered. When the cultivated cell of Vinca rosen L. is preserved in a frozen state, the cultivated cell is treated with a mixture of cellulase and pectinase, a protecting agent is added to it, and it is preserved in a frozen state.
