PURPOSE:To perform easy and efficient gasification of a decomposition object such as heavy oil, waste oil or coal by spraying, coating or depositing a combustible liquid and powder in a detonation wave tube and detonating a gas in the tube to effect the thermal decomposition of the liquid or powder. CONSTITUTION:A detonating mixed gas (e.g. O2 and acetylene or H2 and a part of CO, etc., formed by decomposition) is introduced into a detonation wave tube 1 such as an explosion-proof cylinder. The object to be decomposed is sprayed, coated or deposited in the detonation tube 1 and ignited by firing the mixed gas. The formed decomposition gas (mainly a mixture of CO and H2) is exhausted and recovered by the residual pressure in the detonation tube 1 and the residual gas in the tube is used as a fuel for the next reaction. Since single reaction completes in a short time of =1/1000 sec, a number of the reaction cycles are repeated in the same detonation wave tube at a high repetition speed.
