PURPOSE:To provide a method for preventing internal surface (overall surface corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion) of respective members after a converter in the exhaust system of an automobile. CONSTITUTION:Platinum group metal catalyst dust used in a converter disperses and sticks on the internal surface of respective members in an exhaust system after the converter by exhaust gas and accelerates erosion. Therefore, in using a new platinum group metal catalyst converter, a catalyst carrier is previously mounted in a reserved converter case, and after the platinum group metal catalyst dust that is liable to disperse is blown off by engine exhaust gas or compressed air, it is mounted to a converter on a real car. Thereby internal erosion of a muffler, etc., is prevented.
