PURPOSE: To carry out a drying from inside needle-leaf tree materials, eliminate any drying cracks and obviate a back split applied in a rectangular material and the like by a method wherein temperature, humidity and inter-material air speed within a kiln storing needle-leaf tree materials therein are specified and drying is carried out while cells of the needle-leaf tree materials are once expanded. ;CONSTITUTION: Needle-leaf trees, for example, a plurality of co Japan cedars with 10.5cm square and a length of 3000mm are regularly piled up to each other in a predetermined spacing. The tree materials are loaded in a kiln 2 which can be sealingly closed. An inter-tree air speed of the rectangular material 1 is set to be a mean value of 0.5 to 1.5 m/s and at the same time the temperature within the kiln 2 is adjusted to be in a range of 60-80°C and the humidity within the kiln 2 is adjusted to 80 to 95%, and the materials are left for more than 120 hours. Then, the temperature within the kiln 2 is decreased to 45 to 52'C and at the same time the humidity in the kiln 2 is set to 80%, the materials are dehumidified for 24 to 48 hours, thereby the materials are dried from inside and then the drying of the needle-leaf materials not generating any cracks is completed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
