PRODUCTION OF PLATE COCOON AND COCOON CLOTH

PURPOSE: To obtain a new cocoon product using a cocoon having ellipsoidal form, etc., at a low cost while keeping the characteristic texture of cocoon. ;CONSTITUTION: A cocoon 10 spun by a silkworm and having ellipsoidal, spherical or elliptic cylindrical form, etc., is opened by cutting both ends 13a, 13b and a side 15 of the cocoon with a cutting device such as a cutter knife. The opened cocoon 10 is softened by immersing in a liquid 20 (water of 10-20°C) for about 5-600sec. The softened cocoon 10 is pressed with a smooth hot metal plate 30 (e.g. a domestic iron) to obtain a plate cocoon A having the shape of a plate.
