PURPOSE: To print an italic character by using a Post Script printer connected to a personal computer by a method wherein a matrix defining process for italics, a font setting process which sets an italic font, a character code output process, the character code output process which sends out a character, and a paper discharge process are carried out. ;CONSTITUTION: A tangent value of a tilt angle is obtained with a matrix defining process for italics 1 to define an arrangement object which gives the tilt angle of the italics by using said value. A name of a font required to be used as an italic style is specified with a font setting process 2, and an arrangement object which specifies a size of the character is set to multiply it by the arrangement object giving the tilt angle of the italics defined previously. The font for italics is generated to be ascertained by using this result. At this point of time, an italic character comes capable of being used. After processing for setting the font, a character code output process 3 and a paper discharge process 4 are carried out and an italic character is printed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
