COLOR CENTER FORMING DEVICE USING EPITAXIAL GROWTH SINGLE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF RARE EARTH ELEMENTS

摘要

PURPOSE: To obtain a high contrast by forming a color center on a substrate having the first and second main surfaces while being formed of an oxide of rare earth elements and consisting of a substance doped with ion impurities, responding to information of projection. ;CONSTITUTION: A color center forming layer 2 is desired to have transmissibility to light emitted from a light source 11, thereby, light is projected on a screen 18 through a layer 2 in the case there is no color center. A single crystal of an oxide of properly doped rare earth elements is used for the layer 2. The single crystal layer is desirable because the structure of the single crystal is denser than that of a multi-crystal layer and a non-crystal layer while having a denser lattice defect. When an electron beam 1 is scanned under control, a color center 6 is dispersed spatially inside the layer 2, thereby an absorbing characteristic of a selected part of the layer 2 changes in relation to a picture.
