PURPOSE: To provide a syllable type compressor and a syllable type expandor, in which a compression ratio and a filter coefficient including a time constant can be freely set, and easily changed. ;CONSTITUTION: A digital type compressor A is equipped with an (N-1) power circuit 21 which (N-1) power a rectified data, and the output data of the (N-1) squaring circuit 21 are supplied to a digital low-pass filter 12.
