PURPOSE: To provide a brush for a roll which is capable of well cleaning the roll by maintaining a sufficient contact with the roll even if there is the deformation of the roll surface by thermal expansion, thermal shrinkage, etc. ;CONSTITUTION: Plural brush elements 25 implanted with brush bristles 27 in a brush elements base 26 are housed into an open mouthed channel 28 formed in the longitudinal direction of a brush element holder 24 in such a manner that the brush element base 26 can freely advance and retreat into and from the opening of the open mouthed channel 28. The brush elements are held in one row in the longitudinal direction of the brush element holder 24 in such a manner that the brush bristles 27 can project from the opening. An elastically compressible energizing means 31 for energizing the respective brush elements 25 in the direction approximate to the opening is disposed between the open mouthed channel 28 and the brush element base 26. The respective brush elements 25 are made to maintain the sufficient contact with the roll surface by the pressing force of the energizing means 31 and are advanced and retreated independently by the elastic compression effect of the energizing means 31, by which the brush elements are made to surely follow up the deformation of the roll surface.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO
