PURPOSE:To improve the operability and workability of a recovery processing by automatically copying the data of all the duplex files existing on a defective medium. CONSTITUTION:A duplex file data copy control part 1 is activated by an operator to control a series of operations for copying data. A file information extracting means 11 possesses the file names and file information of all the duplex files from file labels on a normal medium. A fault information referring means 12 inspects whether there is a fault in the duplex file or not. A data copying means 13 copies all the duplex files on the objective medium. At such a time, a non-duplex file and a normal duplex file are not copied. A fault information updating means 14 erases the fault information of the duplex file recovered by copying the data.
