PURPOSE: To enable the cutout of a construction material such as a color base plate to be automatically discriminated through image processing, and improve accuracy for the discrimination, regardless of the inclination of a stroboscope and the light quantity thereof. ;CONSTITUTION: The upper surface of a construction material M is photographed with an image pickup device 1 synchronously with a stroboscope 4 flashing from the reverse side of the material M. An image processing device 7, upon receipt of image output from the device 1, makes a comparison between a segment of each side of the material M obtained from the positions of setting holes N in the material M on a screen, and a preliminarily saved line pattern, thereby making judgement about the existence of a cutout.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
