CALCITONIN NASAL COMPOSITIONS CONTAINING GLYCYRRHIZINATE ABSORPTION ENHANCERS

A novel pharmaceutical composition containing calcitonin, and a novel method of enhancing the absorption of a calcitonin across a mucosal membrane. The pharmaceutical composition comprises a calcitonin, an effective amount of an absorption enhancer which is a glycyrrhizinate, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The glycyrrhizinate is preferably ammonium glycyrrhizinate and is present in a concentration corresponding to at least 0.1% (w/w) of the total weight of the composition.
