Computerised finger print comparison - using histograms contg. largest number of matching components for producing matching line

Method for comparing and determining finger prints by computer uses stored details of finger prints for comparison with a wanted finger print. Every detail of the wanted finger print is compared with every detail of at least part of the stored finger print data to produce a histogram. The histograms containing the largest number of matching components are selected and a line is produced indicating the degree to which a stored print matches with the wanted finger print.
