A doctor device for the application of liquid or pasty compositions onto travelling material webs is described. The device contains a doctor arranged transversely to the travel direction of the material web and a guide pipe arranged parallel thereto. On the doctor and guide pipe, displaceable delimiting bodies for the coating width of the composition to be applied are arranged. On the inner wall (11) of each delimiting body (6, 6'), a baffle (12, 12') is arranged, which forms an acute angle ( alpha ) with the inner wall (11); the guide pipe (5) is at the same time a feed pipe for the composition to be applied; the outlet openings (14, 14') of the feed pipe are arranged in the region between the delimiting bodies (6, 6').
