A method of optimizing control of looms for the improvement of the economic efficiency (b) of a weaving mill controls set points (n) for the looms (33) so that the economic efficiency (b) of the weaving mill will not be reduced below a standard economic efficiency determined through preparatory test operation of the controlled looms. The controlled looms (33) are operated for a predetermined preparatory test period for preparatory test operation to collect the data of parameters (si, τi, τo, n, w, a) dominating the economic efficiency (b) of the weaving mill and to create reference data (R, σr, t1, σt1, S1, σs1, t2, at2, S2, as2, t0, σt0, N, σn, M. σm, W, σw, A, σa). Data of the parameters are collected in a monitoring period (T) during the practical operation of the looms (33) and the data is normalized by the time of the monitoring period (T) to create operation data (E3). The set points for each loom are corrected on the basis of the result of comparison between the reference data (R, σr, t1, σt1, S1, σs1, t2, at2, S2, σs2, t0, σt0, N, σn, M. σm, W, σw, A, σa) and the operation data (E3) to determine new set points.
