A glucoamylase capable of digesting raw, as well as cooked, starch has been isolated from fungi of the genus Pestalotiopsis, especially Pestalotiopsisfunerea IFO 5427 (SANK 15174), Pestalotiopsismicrospora IFO 31056, Pestalotiopsisacaciae IFO 31054, Pestalotiopsis crassiusla IFO 31055; and Pestalotiopsisneglecta (SANK 13390).
