The electronically-controlled continuous flow heater has an LED display (2) on the front panel (1) which indicates the instantaneous cost of consumption, from a minimum value (3) to a maximum (4). For the electronic control, there are four inputs. A first element (5) gives the required throughput of hot water, a second element (6) gives the cost per kilowatt-hour, a third element (7) gives the required temperature and a fourth element (8) gives the water cost per litre used. Only the first and third elements (5,7) are adjustable by the user. An alternative version has a digital display for the meter. ADVANTAGE - Shows total cost of usage, not just electrical cost, so that optimum economy of use is possible.
