PURPOSE:To obtain an anti-human-mesothelial-cellular monoclonal antibody specifically reacting with human mesothelial cells without reacting with other human normal cells and human tumor cells and thereby applicable to the diagnosis of sputum cells or thoracic fluid cells for lung cancer and to the diagnosis of ascites cells for abdominal tumor. CONSTITUTION:The splenic cells of a mouse immunized with human mesothelial cells are fused with mouse marrow cells to form hybridomas. A bybridoma producing a monoclonal antibody reacting with the human mesothelial cells is selected from the formed hybridomas and cultured in a medium or administered into a mouse to give ascites. The objective monoclonal antibody is obtained from the cultured product or the ascites.
