The flats which are folded to make up the cartons are stacked on edge on a conveyor comprising two parallel belts (2). The tack is loosened by two rails (3) with an eccentric drive to impact vertical and translational movements to the stack. The flats are slid down inclined guides (7) to rest in small stacks (11) against the pick-off mechanism (8). The flats are metered down the slope via a roller (6) which grips the top edges. Light gates (9,10) monitor the size of the final stack to ensure sufficient supply of flats.
