Mixts for prepn. of large castings - contg. bisphenol based epoxide resin, acid anhydride hardener, accelerator, light stabiliser and UV absorber

Mixts. (I) contain (A) bisphenol bisepoxide (II) and, on (II), (B0 30-70 % (all pts. wt. ) acid anhydride (C) 0.005-0.01 % accelerator; (D) 0.01-0.5% light stabilisers and UV absorbers. Only general descriptions of prepn. and curing of (I) are given. E.g. (I) was prepn. from Lekutherm X 18 (RTM: (A) with low OH no.) and Lekutherm hardener H (RTM: hexahydrophthalic anhydride) with Desmorapid DB (RTM: dibenzylamine) as catalyst. Colourants such as Resolin blue (RTM) could be added dissolved in (B), followed by Tinuvin 292 (RTM: UV stabiliser) and Tinuvin 1130 (RTM: UV absorber). Components were pref. mixed at 30-40 deg. C and degassed for 4 hours at down to 0.001 bar then cast and tempered for 3 days at 60-80 deg. C. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prepn. of castings, e.g., for fittings for rooms such as decorative columns, platforms for show cases, feet for chairs and tables, architectonic components. Large, glass-clear castings, even in wts. up to several hundred kg., can be prepd. and are very stable machanically.
