In a microprocessor with external stores the active times of the stores are curtailed. Pref. short control signals are produced for the storage functions and data are held in intermediate storage before transfer to the microprocessor or the stores. Pref. the curtailed function is placed as closely as possible to the point in time of transfer to the microprocessor of the stores. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for measuring convertors using two-wire technique. In addition to reducing microprocessor power consumption, mean store supply current is reduced.
