Contactless determn. of coordinates of points on surface - combining coded light application with phase-shift method using stripes of width corresp. to pattern period

Parallel stripes are projected optically into the object space while sinusoidal variations of brightness on the surface of the object are detected by a camera. The coordinates of surface points are retrieved with regard to background illumination and stripe contrast as well as by triangulation. The features of the phase-shift method are combined with those of coded light application using stripes encoded in accordance with their difference. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in quality control on prodn. lines; phase-shift contour-checking is feasible without problems introduced by periodic stripe pattern.
