Parallel stripes are projected optically into the object space while sinusoidal variations of brightness on the surface of the object are detected by a camera. The coordinates of surface points are retrieved with regard to background illumination and stripe contrast as well as by triangulation. The features of the phase-shift method are combined with those of coded light application using stripes encoded in accordance with their difference. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in quality control on prodn. lines; phase-shift contour-checking is feasible without problems introduced by periodic stripe pattern.
