The electromagnetically actuated display has a matrix of elements, each having a panel (7) that can be covered by a flap element (8). The flaps are mounted at the end of arm (10) that are pivot (11) mounted. The arms carry projecting permanent magnets (12) that are near to the iron cores (4) of the electromagnets (3). When the electromagnets are energised the flap elements move through an arc to open or close the display segments. Once moved the flap remains in the set position until reactivation occurs. ADVANTAGE - Simple, reliable two state display elements.
