The platform (5) of the building lift moves on a mast (3) built up from sections and having a rack (8) in which the pinion of the platform drive (7) engages. For transportation the lift has to be transferred from the working position to a trailer (13). This is achieved by using the drive to raise the platform until the trailer can be moved into the space between the platform and the base (2). Two supporting legs (21) are inserted from below into sockets (22) at the two mast side corners of the platform and the platform again driven in the downwards sense. ADVANTAGE - Simple system not requiring additional lifting equipment.
