摘要
Synthesis of rhamnolipids (I) is induced in Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains by glyceric acid ether lipids (II). The major prod. is rhamnolipid I (Ia) and during fermentation no further inducers are aded. (II) is added to the main culture before or during fermentation. The P. aeruginosa strains are pref. ATCC 21996, ATCC 10145 or NCTC 10701 ar used. Glyceric acid ether lipid MA (IIa) is added to the nutrient soln. of the main culture at 0.2-1.5 (esp. 0.2) g/l. (IIa) is a microbial degradation product of the antibiotic `Favomycin' (RTM); its prepn. is described in EP Application 89115069. (I) are recovered by ethyl acetate extn. of the culture supernatant then column chromatography. Apart from the major prod., (Ia), 3 minor components are also produced. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used to produce rhamnose (by acid hydrolysis) and this is used to synthesise optically active cpds. Unlike known inducers, once (II) has been added, no further addns. are required during the process. At the end, (II) can be recovered for reuse
