Contactless infrared temp. measurement of body conducting heat - measuring infrared radiation emanating from body in two separate wavelength regions to determine surface and internal temp.
Contactless infrared temp. measurement of body conducting heat - measuring infrared radiation emanating from body in two separate wavelength regions to determine surface and internal temp.
The contactless infrared temp. measurement method involves measuring the infrared radiation emanating from the surface of the measurement body and taking account of the emission properties to derive the body's surface temp. The body (4) is absorbent in a first infrared wavelength range and transparent in another infrared wavelength range in a partial zone forming the surface yet radiation emitting on the inside of the zone. The radiation energy emitted is measured separately in the two wavelength ranges. The surface temp. (To) is derived from the energy in the first wavelength range and the internal temp. (Tu) from that in the second range. USE/ADVANTAGE - E.g. for testing models of space craft appts. in hypersonic intermittently operating high enthalpy wind tunnels. Simple, contactless measurement of temp. which is static or varying very slowly and problem-free measurement of heat flow.
