The tent pole is formed from a number of sections (1) with have longitudinal holes bored through them. They are tensioned and strung together on a cord (4). The adjacent surfaces of the pole sections are shaped such, that when the cord is tensioned, a rigid tent pole is formed. By rounding off the adjacent surfaces gives a spring characteristic to the rod in that direction. the stability in all the other directions is then guaranteed. ADVANTAGE - When the pole is not in tension, the tent can be folded for storage without removal of the pole sections.
