Mineral esp. basalt wool mfg. appts. - has nozzle designed for high wool productivity

Appts. for mineral wool mfr. from silicate raw material (esp. basalt) by the nozzle of two halves (9) which define a nozzle gap (10) for receiving parallel prim. filaments from a distributor (5) and which have gas blasting slits (29) covered by air grinding lips (28). The novelty is that (i) a cooling device (37) is provided for cooling the nozzle surfaces facing the nozzle gap (10), (ii) the air guiding lip surfaces, facing the nozzle gap (10), and flush with the nozzle gap walls (26); (iii) the nozzle upper portion (30) surfaces, facing the distribution outlet openings (6) are at least partly flat; (iv) the vertical distance (VA) between the distributor outlet openings (6) and the gas blasting slits (29) is 4-8 (pref. 5) mm; and (v) the horizontal width of the nozzle gap (10) is 3-6 (pref. 3-4 esp. 4.5) mm. ADVANTAGE - The appts. gives increased output and higher productivity without redn. in mineral wool quality.
