A fractured bone which is affected by osteoporosis is held together by pins (1) arranged in a ring. These pins are of a smaller diameter than the pins normally used for holding fractured bones together and are hollow over their whole length. Pins (9) of very small diameter are first driven into the bone and then serve as guides for the hollow pins. Apart from holding fractured bones together the principle can be applied to strengthen bones affected by osteoporosis or other bone disorders.
