A procedure for the prodn. of chlorinated polyolefins in an aq. suspension system is claimed. The system contains a metal salt of an alkyldiphenyl ether disulphonic acid of formula (I) as suspension stabiliser. In (I), R1 is H, 1-18C alkyl; R2 is 6-36C alkyl; M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for the prodn. of chlorinated homo- and co-polymers of alpha-olefins. Use of (I) enables a finer particle size prod. to be obtd. with good flexibility and heat resistance. The prod. is for uses requiring heat resistance such as office machinery, household electrical appts., insulators for electrical conductors and for rubber parts requiring flexibility.
