The bearing for the shaft of a hollow spindle, especially a two-for-one twisting spindle in a spinner or twister, has a sleeve extension (14) at the hollow shaft (15) to be engaged by the free end (13) of the bearing shaft (3). The free end (13) of the bearing shaft (3) pref. has a press fit (16) in the sleeve extension (14) of the hollow shaft (15). The length (L) of the press fit (16) is about two-thirds of the gap (A) between the ball bearings (4,5). The bearing shaft (3) is solid. The sleeve extension (14) of the hollow shaft (15) extends close to the bearing sleeve (6), with its end (17) towards the bearing sleeve (6) forming a seal (18) between the bearing sleeve (6) and bearing shaft (3). USE/ADVANTAGE - The bearing assembly of the hollow spindle, in twisting and spinning machines, reduces the risk of out-of-round running.
