On the prodn. line for the heat protection shield, a drawing tool for prodn. of the upper metal plate (1) and a drawing tool for prodn. of the lower metal plate (2), are used. A tool cuts the completely projecting all-round edge of the metal plates superimposed in this area (1,2). There is a bending tool for right-angled bending of the outer area (22) of the all-round edge of the metal plates (1,2), and a bending tool for angling the bent edge area (22) at 45 deg. A combined press and hole tool are used for application and pressing together the angle area (22) of the edge of the two metal plates. USE/ADVANTAGE - A three-dimensional sandwich form body is produced in which a lasting elastic, but tight connection of the cover components is achieved, to screen heat from exhaust catalyst in motor vehicle.
