Vehicular antilock braking control responsive to transverse acceleration - deactivating select-low regulation mode in extremely unstable conditions with substitution of individual rear wheel control
Vehicular antilock braking control responsive to transverse acceleration - deactivating select-low regulation mode in extremely unstable conditions with substitution of individual rear wheel control
Four wheel rotational speed sensors (31) are connected through a select-high switch (33) to a pseudo-road-speed calculator (34) whose output is thresholded (36) to obtain a common set-point (S) for the brake fluid pressure controller (37). The rear wheel speed signals only are rerouted (40) at low values (less than 0.4g) of transverse acceleration via a select-low switch (41). The pressure is modulated in accordance with the slip of whichever wheel has the lower value of adhesion. ADVANTAGE - Braking distance can be shortened by allowance for wt. redistribution around curves and during steering manoeuvres.
