The X-ray image intensifier includes an electron multiplying stage (15) which consists of a microchannel plate and an output window (19) belonging to the vacuum housing (9). The output window has a flat detector array (17) coupled directly to the electron multiplying stage (15). The detector array (17) consists of a semiconductor made of amorphous silicon doped with hydrogen. The detector array has capacitively sensitive input electrodes with storage characteristics. The detector array can consist of several module groups arranged close to each other. ADVANTAGE - Intensifier has high quantum efficiency and with direct signal removal, digitising and further processing.
