A transporter bar for reels is loaded in one direction, and the free end of the bar has a barrier to prevent reels sliding off in the other direction. The bar (10) has suitable support for doffing the full reels of yarn or tap (20,22,24,26). A catch (32) has a lever (28) with spring (34) attached and hinged at (30) inside the end of the bar. By means of a rod or cable (36), and the attachment (38) at the control point, it is possible to remotely control the end of the bar, so that none of the reels can slip off the end. It is also proposed that the catch should be operated electromagnetically, with a cable connection to control it. Alternatively, by use of compressed air, the catch can be forcibly operated. This may be remotely operated with cable connection to a hook style lever which protrudes from the end of the bar (10), thus forming an end catch which prevents the reel slipping off, once in position. The catch retracts during loading. ADVANTAGE - The mechanism prevents any reel from being dropped off the bar and damaged, which may then be unusable.
