To provide a technique capable of preventing loosening of a wire wound on a reel without applying a coating agent to thea wire.SOLUTION: This specification discloses a reel and a wire reel for a reinforcing bar binding machine including a wire wound on a reel. In the wire reel for a reinforcing bar binding machine, a wire wound subsequently is sunk in a wire wound first, so that a wire wound later and the wire wound first are engaged with each other, which becomes an engaging part. This specification also discloses a method for manufacturing a wire reel for a reinforcing bar binding machine. The manufacturing method includes the steps of fixing one end of the wire to the reel, winding the wire around the reel by feeding the wire while rotating the reel, and causing a wire wound later to be brought into engagement with a wire wound first by stopping feeding of a wire while rotating the reel, and engaging the wire wound later with the wire wound first.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 17
