Automatic spur gear reduction transmission for motor vehicle - is formed as 3-shaft transmission with parallel drive shaft and two gear shafts meshing with pinion and ring gear to drive wheels
The system is formed as a 3-shaft transmission, with one drive shaft (2) and two gear shafts (3,4) parallel to it. Each gear shaft meshes with a pinion (16,17), and there is a ring gear (18) to drive the wheels. Two gears are changed by friction, the others by positive locking. The first gear is permanently engaged, via a free-wheel (F) with slide sleeve (S1). The first gear fixed-wheel (5) permanently drives, via a reversing pinion (20), a reversing loose wheel (15), which is switched to a gear shaft (4), via a second slide sleeve (SR,S2,21). ADVANTAGE - Car can drive off in first gear, even when engine electronics have failed.
