The patent concerns a combination safety belt-airbag arrangement for a car occupant. The airbags exist in all three sections, the vertical side section by the "cabin" wall, the diagonal shoulder harness section and the transverse lap harness section. The belt itself is made of flexible material which is as inextensible as possible and which has high tensile strength. Around it is an inflatable tube, closed at the ends, which is made of extensible material but also of high tensile strength. There is an internal inflator between each half of the tube and the central belt so that the airbag inflates outwards from the belt in both directions.
