A method for the treatment of metal-containing petroleum fractions in the presence of solid particles, which is a magneto hydro static separation stage for these particles, and causing at least a part of these particles.
Process for the treatment of a cut of hydrocarbons containing metals comprising the following steps: alpha) is treated, said cut of hydrocarbons in the presence of solid particles of average density od in the conditions of at least partly eliminating metals that it contains and deposits of said metals, on at least a fraction of said solid particles; beta) is drawn off at least a portion of the solid particles coming from the step which is the average density is d1; gamma) magnétohydrostatiquement said solid particles are separated from the step beta by introducing the said solid particles in a ferrofluid placed in a magnetic field, that is not uniform and creating a magnetic field gradient, whose intensity is adjusted so that the mean apparent density da f of the ferrofluid allows the separation of said solid particles of at least a fraction of average density of less than the mean apparent density da f of the ferrofluid and at least a fraction of average density sd greater than the mean apparent density da f of the ferrofluid and greater than the average density d1 of the solid particles drawn off in step gamma, delta is recovered at least a fraction of said solid particles of average density sd, and e & aa) is recycled to step alpha at least a fraction of said solid particles of average density di . The solid particles are preferably of the particles of a catalyst and the treatment is, for example a hydrotreatment.
