Use of niobium derivatives as active principle of medicaments which are useful in the treatment and/or prevention of disorders of carbohydrate and/or lipid metabolism

The invention relates to a novel use of derivatives of niobium in the oxidation state 4 or 5, as active principle for the manufacture of medicaments which are useful in the treatment and/or prevention of disorders of carbohydrate and/or lipid metabolism. The niobium derivatives which are useful according to the invention are in the form of inorganic salts or of organometallic salts or complexes. The medicaments are useful for the treatment of diabetes, hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipidaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia and complications associated with these pathologies.
