Waste material vitrification procedure - has bath in which cinders and unburned material are kept in molten state prior to vitrification by oxygen burner or plasma torch
Waste material vitrification procedure - has bath in which cinders and unburned material are kept in molten state prior to vitrification by oxygen burner or plasma torch
The procedure consists of burning the waste in a furnace at a temperature of 100 - 1300 deg. C, sensing cinders and unburned material to a bath (10) where they are kept in a molten state by an oxygen burner or plasma torch maintaining a temperature of 1500 - 1700 deg.C. The procedure is carried out in an installation comprising a furnace (1) with a charging zone (2) for the waste material, an air intake (5), and smoke and fumes outlet (8), and a zone (6) for discharging cinders and unburned material, connected to the bath (10) in which the material is kept in the molten state by an oxygen burner (12). The bath is situated below the level of the furnace and is linked via an overflow (11) to a trough of water (13) in which the molten material is vitrified. ADVANTAGE - ensures that cinders and unburned material are kept in molten state without wasting heat.
