PURPOSE:To increase an annihilated amount of radioactive wastes and to improve an energy efficiency by arranging an electron beam accelarator at a position where the radioactive wastes are irradiated by gamma ray. CONSTITUTION:A fast breeder reactor is used as an irradiation source of a target reactor 2, radioactive wastes 3 and nuclear fuel body 4 are arranged inside and outside of the target reactor 2, respectively, and also a moderator is added to an inside of the wastes 3 or is arranged between the waste 3 and the fuel body 4. Meanwhile, an electron beam typed accelarator 1 is arranged at a position where the wastes 3 is irradiated by gamma ray, and the gamma ray generated at the accelerator 1 irradiates the wastes 3 to annihilate the wastes 3 by a (gamma, n) reaction. Then, neutrons generated by the reaction also irradiate the fuel body 4 to keep a high neutron flux and, heat generated in the target reactor 2 is converted to electric power to be supplied to the accelerator 1, and, moreover, those neutrons irradiate the wastes 3 to annihilate the wastes 3 by a (n, gamma) reaction.
