PURPOSE:To obtain the pattern having an excellent contrast by incorporating 0.01-5.0wt% at least one kind of compds. contg. an active methylene group to the titled developer. CONSTITUTION:The titled developer comprises 0.01-5.0wt% at least one kind of the compds. shown by formulas (I), (II) and (III). The concrete example of said compd. shown by formula (I) is an acetylacetone, that of said compd. shown by formula (II) is the compd. of formula II-1, and that of said compd shown by formula (III) is a barbituric acid. The content of said compds. is 0.01-5.0wt%, preferably 0.1-2.0wt% on the weight basis of the developer.
