ATTITUDE STABILIZING MECHANISM FOR UNDERWATER SINKING BODY

PURPOSE: To provide an attitude stabilizing mechanism by which the sinking attitude of a cylindrical underwater sinking body that is jetted out from the bottom plate of an armoring cylinder and is sunk in the water can be stabilized and the sinking speed can be also adjusted without practically changing the size of the armoring cylinder floating in the water. ;CONSTITUTION: An underwater sinking body 13 is housed in an armoring cylinder 12 floating in the water by means of a float 11, and when the bottom plate of the cylinder 12 is removed, the body 13 is jetted out from the cylinder 12 by its selfweight and is sunk while paying off a cable 15. A parachute section 16 consisting of an umbrella section 16a and a plurality of tying ripes 16b is prepared between the cylinder 12 and the body 13, in which the central edge of the section 16a is fixed on the upper part of the body 13 and the ends of the ropes 16b is fixed on the lower part of the body 13. Springs 20 are built in the section 16a to forcibly open its umbrella. A weight 18 is suspended by a rope 19 tied with the bottom part of the body 13.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
