PURPOSE:To provide a copying machine with a sorter, which can keep paper sorting from incorrect collating by discharging a copy paper left behind in the copying machine and the first copy paper to the same bin of the sorter after clearing jammed paper. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor drum 1 is supported in the central portion of a copying machine 100 in such a manner as to rotate counter-clockwise. The photoreceptor drum 1 has a photosensitive layer on the surface thereof, and an electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface by image formation exposure of a scanning optical system 10. A paper sensor CE1 for checking feed of a copy paper is disposed intermediate between a carry-in roller 27 and a timing roller 30, and a paper sensor CE2 is provided in the vicinity of a discharge roller 33. A sorter 400 is installed at a discharge portion of the copying machine 100. On executing multicopying when the sorter 400 is in the sorting mode, a motor 430 is operated to feed copy paper sheet by sheet into bins 401-410, and on completion of copying, a deflecting portion 431 is moved to a position corresponding to the bin 410 to be on standby.
