METHOD FOR GRAFTING CUCUMBERS AND TOOL USED THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To carry out the directing for mechanization of a grafting technique y simplifying the grafting operation conventionally using the skill as essential requirements, developing a tool adapted thereto and combining both. CONSTITUTION:A stock (S) is obliquely cut at 30 deg. angle and a scion (g') is cut rather long than the stock (S) an the stock is engaged with a grafting groove in the center of a grafting plate 1 made of a synthetic resin somewhat harder than the stock on the side of the stock. The scion is then brought into contact therewith and a grafting plate 5 made of the synthetic resin is pressed and joined to the scion from the upper part as a grafting method. The stock and scion are more readily prepared than those of an ordinary method and joined in the joining groove in the center of the grafting plate. The grafting plate on the scion side is pressed and held therewith to protect the grafting part. After the grafting, the grafting plates of the stock and scion are falled off sue to the unbalance of the material thereof according to the growth of the grafted seedling. Thereby, the production of the healthy seedling can be carried out without causing trouble to the growth of the seedling.
